Office for National Statistics in Newport (Wales) to host collection in February 2012
The Festivals Company through the Iris Prize Festival is proud to make available the highly anticipated series of portraits of successful gay and lesbian professionals working in the UK film industry, by acclaimed photographer Donald MacLellan.
"This new collection of portraits of successful gay and lesbian professionals working in the film industry includes Stephen Fry and Sir Ian McKellen. The collection records and celebrates the fantastic wealth of talent we have within the UK film industry. I think it will also act as a catalyst to explore, highlight and debate the on-screen representation of gay, lesbian and bisexual people and to establish to what extent they feel reflected in film, both in front of, and behind the camera," said Iris Patron, Matthew Rhys.
"We are very excited that the Pink Portraits are now available to be seen in the UK. As well as the more obvious hosts like festivals and galleries we are also keen to hear from places of work, universities, community spaces, shops and schools who would like to host the collection," said Berwyn Rowlands from The Festivals Company.
To celebrate LGBT History Month the collection will be on display at the Office for National Statistics in Newport during February 2012.
"We’re proud to be able to host the Pink Portraits as part of our LGBT History month celebrations. For us these portraits are a way of recognising and celebrating the achievement of members of LGBT community, helping to promote a positive and diverse working environment," said Tricia Dodd, Senior Staff Sponsor of the LGBTT Diversity Network Group ONS Newport.
