Pierhead Session at Wrexham

Pierhead Session at Wrexham

3 Sep 2010

The Festivals Company is proud to be organising the first Pierhead Session in Wrexham as part of the National Assembly for Wales initiative to focus on issues that affect you, Wales, and the World.

This is the first Pierhead Session to take place outside Cardiff Bay and is one of the highlights of the Kaleidoscopic festival which will bring a wide and varied audience to North Wales.

"We are pleased to be taking the Pierhead Sessions beyond Cardiff on behalf of the National Assembly for Wales. The inaugural Pierhead Session back in March 2010 proved to be very popular with a huge diverse audience for an eclectic programme of talks and debates. I’m confident that we will have a similar response in Wrexham," - said Berwyn Rowlands from The Festivals Company.

The Pierhead Session will ask if a country can be a brand and if so how has ‘Brand Wales’ been adapted over the past 50 years? Most commentators will agree that sport, music, food and more recently politics have all contributed to ‘Adapting Brand Wales’.

The Festivals Company is delighted that the speakers (pictured above) for the Adapting Brand Wales session have been confirmed as:

· Yvette Vaughn Jones (Chair)
· Ian Grutchfield
· Brian Morgan
· Ed Newsome
· Roger Pride

who as respected figures at the top of their game are guaranteed to create an interesting and lively discussion.

Other festival Partners and sponsors include Glyndwr University, Wrexham Council, Film Agency for Wales, National Assembly for Wales, the British Film Institute, Academi, BAFTA Cymru, and Greenland.
