"I would like to congratulate the Top 10 for reaching this far in the competition. The public have been voting via the website (www.welshcurryhouse.co.uk) and have demonstrated their passion for curry. We have 300 Indian restaurants in Wales and to be included in the Top 10 is fantastic news for the hard working staff. I would like to wish all 10 every success," said Berwyn Rowlands from the Festivals Company.

The public vote closed on February 12, 2007 and the judging process has been handed over to the Independent judges who will visit the Top 10 restaurants. The judges will sample the food, experience the atmosphere and meet the people involved before deciding on the final three.

The three finalists will be announced on Saturday 3 March, 2007. Cooking for the public and the independent jury during Cardiff’s Indian Food Festival, the three finalists will be judged on their presentation skills, the taste of their dish and their ability to cope under pressure.

The overall winner will be announced during a ceremony in Y Senedd, (Welsh Assembly Building) Cardiff Bay during Cardiff’s Indian Food Festival on 21 March 2007.

You can follow the competition in Some Like It Hot with Hywel James, three half hour programmes every Tuesday at 7.30pm starting March 13 on ITV 1 Wales.
