Winning filmmakers from the 2010 Iris Prize Festival

Iris Prize Festival 2010

6 - 9 Oct 2010

Founded by The Festivals Company the Iris Prize Festival returns for its fourth year from the 6 – 9 October 2010.

The festival has established itself as a major film event in the UK bringing together a global network of partner festivals who share the company’s mission to celebrate and promote excellence in gay and lesbian film making.

The festival successfully attracts film makers, distributors, journalists and film fans from the US, Europe, Australia and beyond. The highlight of the event is the awarding of the Iris Prize, the world’s largest prize for a gay and lesbian short film.

Other highlights include screenings of new feature films, panel sessions, parties and the legendary closing night awards show.

"As the event producers we are responsible for everything from organizing guest travel and accommodation, co-ordinating the pre-selection and International jury, raising sponsorship, co-ordinating screenings at all the venues, hosting receptions, launches and parties, which are a key part of the festival, co-ordinating the international marketing activity which includes receptions in London, Dublin and LA," said Berwyn Rowlands.

"We love Iris who keeps us busy and entertained as her popularity grows both here at home and much further a field," he added.

Submissions opened to compete for the Iris Prize - Cardiff's International Gay and Lesbian Short Film Prize in January 2010. You can find more information about Iris by visiting the festival website.
