Curry Top 15
4 Feb 2008The Festivals Company has announced that just over 6000 votes have been registered by the public as part of the competition to find the Welsh Curry House of the Year 2008.
"I would like to congratulate the Top 15 for reaching this far in the competition. The response has been spectacular with just over 6,000 votes registered by the Welsh public for their favourite Indian restaurants. This represents a huge increase on the 800 votes registered for the inaugural competition in 2007. We have 260 Indian restaurants in Wales and to be included in the Top 15 is fantastic news for the hard working staff. I would like to wish all 15 every success," said Berwyn Rowlands from the Festivals Company.
What next?
The public vote is now closed and the judging process has now been handed over to the Regional Independent judges who will visit the Top 5 restaurants in each of the three regions of North, Mid & West and South Wales. The judges will sample the food, experience the atmosphere and meet the people involved before deciding on the final winner from each region.
The three finalists, one from each region will be announced on Monday 25 February 2008.
The three regional finalists will then battle it out to become Welsh Curry House of the Year 2008 by cooking for the National Independent Jury. The three finalists will be judged on their presentation skills, the taste of their dish and their ability to cope under pressure.
The winner of the Welsh Curry House of the Year 2008 will be announced on Wednesday 12 March 2008 at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.
