TVYP (Television and Young People)
23 - 27 Aug 2007The Festivals Company is working with Television and Young People (TVYP) to create an outreach programme in Wales that will help raise the profile of the event and increase the number of applications received from young people living and studying in Wales.
Television and Young People (TVYP) - the charitable talent arm of the Edinburgh International Television Festival - is the UK's leading forum for young people aspiring to work in television. The FREE five day course has gained a reputation as an academy of excellence over the last 17 years providing the perfect springboard for a career in television.
TVYP helps young people aged 18+ gain a foothold in the TV industry and returns to Edinburgh for its seventeenth year this August bank holiday. The acclaimed scheme provides a unique chance to hear from and work with some big names from behind and in front of the camera, and has helped to launch hundreds of TV careers. Delegates from past years are now working in a host of roles across the industry, from a producer on Channel 4’s Charlotte Church Show to BBC Entertainment to making films for five.
S4C has been a long term supporter of the event and continues to help TVYP in encouraging young talent from Wales to attend the event. "TVYP gives young people a real insight into how the industry works," said S4C’s Chief Executive Iona Jones. "The experience they gain working with professionals both behind and in front of the camera is invaluable and many have gone on to have successful careers in television. We all need to invest in training and skills to ensure the UK continues to be a world beater across the creative industries. TVYP is an important part of our skills agenda in television and we at S4C are proud to support it again this year."
The application deadline for this year’s TVYP is May 4th. To find out further information about the event click here.
