James Nee Festivals Company

James Nee

James is a graduate of Aberystwyth University and Warwick University and developed his programming and event production experience at Sgrîn and The Festivals Company, which he has been an employee of since the company’s inception in 2006.

For the past six years he’s been the coordinator of Ffresh – the Student Moving Image Festival of Wales, which has developed into the largest student moving image event in the UK. He’s also jointly created and coordinated two new national events for Wales: The Pierhead Sessions - a media, politics, and sustainability event for the National Assembly for Wales Commission, and Kaleidoscopic - Wrexham’s Adaptation Festival.

Other achievements for the Festivals Company include directing a number of promos for clients including Macmillan Cancer Support, British Council Wales, and Plaid Cymru, assisting on The Iris Prize - Cardiff’s Gay and Lesbian Short Film Prize, the Celtic Media Festival, and the Welsh Curry House of the Year Competition, and co-authoring a strategic plan for the Reels on Wheels project for the National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales.

A volunteer for Age UK for over 2 years, James enjoys travelling, playing squash, running, watching DVD box sets of the latest American hit series (currently Mad Men), and going to music gigs and the cinema. He made a little seen, but much loved (if only by his mother) short film called Y Fargen in 2005. Born in England, but raised in Wales, he lives in Roath, Cardiff and couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
